o material e a técnica | The Material and the technique

Each piece I create, I use only 100% natural materials, like Merino wool, silk, bamboo, cotton, linen...
The Merino wool I use comes mainly from Australia, which is a soft and bright wool. The thinner the fiber is, more soft the piece can be, so I only use extra fine merino wool.
Another material I often use in my pieces is silk. It is consider the strongest natural fiber. Both, wool and silk, match perfectly. They are light and resistant, with thermal qualities which regulate our body temperature, avoiding the accumulation of sweat.
Felting
Felting is an ancestral technique existing for more than 7000 years. It is the form creation (fabrics or sculptures) through the compacting and interweaving of the fibers without using the weaving.
The wool felting can be made using two processes:
- Felting with a needle (needle feelting) - In this technique is used a special needle that has multiple grooves that serve to drag and pressure the fibers one against the other, linking them.
- Wet felting with water and soap (Wet felting and nuno felting) - In this technique the wool fiber is rubbed with water and soap, and in this way it is interlaced and compacted. It is a laborious process but opens multiple creative possibilities.
The beauty of the result depends, not only in the wool quality, but in the artist's skill and creativity.

Como cuidar | How to care
- Hand wash in cold water with a soft soap. If you use hot water, the piece can shrink.
- Submerge and massage gently, without rubbing vigorously and without twisting.
- Gently squeeze the piece by removing excess water and adjusting it to the desired shape.
- The pieces can be ironed, taking into account the existing materials (wool, silk ...).
- Like all pieces made with wool, we must protect them from pests like moth.
- Because they are pieces made with pure wool, it is normal the appearance of lint. To eliminate it, should be cut rather than pulled. That way it will appear less and less.
